By the time I finally decided to "bite the bullet" , and spend the money on a really pedestrian-kind and safe staircase for my family to use when they access the beach in front of my house, I already knew that anything with timbers and concrete supports ,and slimy wooded foot-treads , would be a long process of engineering and permits. When a friend suggested I seriously consider a custom aluminum fabrication I thought it would be unaffordable...but I was not seeing the whole picture. I already knew John at Accufab, and the clever design-builds he had done over the years when I had needed custom work for my aviation industry applications. He came up to the 22 degree slope site , and saw right away how it could be done in matched segments... Ultimately, we built 112 running feet of heavy gauge aluminum stairs, comprising railings, and over 100 treads!..Four men installed it by hand , over a five hour period. It has never moved since then, and doesn't require either washing , cleaning, or painting---ever!
